Frequently Asked Questions
GENERAL INFORMATION
Where is Allan Peoples jewelry made?
Each piece is designed and handcrafted in New York City by master jewelers. Select technical components, including Taloumis gold cords, are produced by specialized artisans abroad and integrated in our New York atelier under strict quality control. Carved stone elements are produced by expert CNC craftsmen and finished by hand. All components meet the same uncompromising standards and are assembled, finished, and quality-checked in New York.
Are your pieces solid gold or platinum?
Yes. Every design is crafted in solid 18k gold or platinum, never plated or filled.
Do you use natural diamonds?
Yes. We use only natural diamonds, selected for their optical performance, precision of cut, and visual harmony within each design.
For small bezel-set and pavé diamonds (approximately 3 mm and below), we work primarily within the F–G color range and VS1–VS2 clarity, sourcing stones with exceptional cut quality. At this scale, these grades represent the highest level at which improvements remain visually meaningful once the stone is set, allowing fire, contrast, and brilliance to take precedence over laboratory rarity.
For larger focal diamonds, where light entry and optical depth can fully express themselves, higher color and clarity grades may be used selectively. In every case, stones are chosen for how they perform in finished jewelry—not simply for paper specifications.
All diamonds are conflict-free and sourced through trusted suppliers who specialize in fine jewelry production rather than commercial grading alone.
What gemstones do you use?
All gemstones are natural and chosen for their color, structure, and integrity. Lapis lazuli is top-grade with no calcite; turquoise is stabilized for durability; coral is natural and porous. Amethyst and citrine may be heat-treated according to accepted industry standards to achieve stable color.
Where do your chains come from?
Chains are precision-made in Italy or the United States depending on the model, then finished and assembled in New York to match each design.
Are your materials responsibly sourced?
Materials are selected from reputable suppliers who follow fair-labor and conflict-free trade standards in accordance with international guidelines.
ORDERS AND SHIPPING
Are pieces kept in stock?
No. Each piece is made to order specifically for its owner.
What are your production times?
Timelines vary by design and workshop schedule. Most pieces are completed in approximately three to six weeks. Your estimated completion date is confirmed individually at the time of order.
Where do you ship from?
All shipments originate from New York City.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. We ship internationally via insured express couriers, subject to carrier service and legal restrictions. Shipping rates are calculated at checkout according to transaction value and insurance coverage. Orders ship DDU (duties and taxes are the client’s responsibility). An adult signature is required upon delivery.
Do you ship everywhere?
We cannot ship to certain restricted or embargoed destinations, including but not limited to Mainland China, Russia, Belarus, Iran, North Korea, Syria, and Cuba, as well as any location where safe or lawful delivery cannot be guaranteed.
How is the jewelry packaged?
Each piece arrives in a custom suede presentation box and protective pouch, both handmade in Italy, then placed in an archival outer case designed for safe long-term storage and travel.
Can I modify or cancel an order?
Orders may be modified or canceled within 24 hours of confirmation. After that, production begins and cannot be reversed. Once a parcel has been released to the carrier, address changes, rerouting, or redelivery requests cannot be accommodated for security and insurance reasons.
RETURNS, EXCHANGES, AND REPAIRS
Can I return my order?
Eligible returns are accepted within 14 calendar days of delivery with a Return Authorization (RA). Items must be unworn, in pristine condition, and returned with all original packaging and documentation. Earrings, custom or engraved pieces, and gift cards are final sale and not eligible for return.
How do I ship a return?
To preserve full insurance coverage, we issue a secure, insured return label through our courier account. For non-defective returns, the cost of insured return shipping is deducted from the refund. For verified defects or incorrect items, return shipping is covered by Allan Peoples.
Do you offer exchanges?
Subject to availability, exchanges may be made within 14 calendar days of delivery for a different size or color variation of the same design. Resizing is treated as an exchange when the piece remains otherwise unchanged. All exchange requests require approval prior to return.
Do you offer repairs and a warranty?
Yes. Repairs and refinishing are available for all Allan Peoples pieces. Manufacturing defects are covered under a one-year limited warranty from the date of delivery. Contact us with photos and a description for assessment and instructions.
CARE AND SAFETY
How should I care for my jewelry?
Wipe gently with a soft, lint-free cloth after wearing. Avoid contact with perfumes, cosmetics, cleaning agents, and harsh chemicals. For diamonds and plain precious-metal pieces, a mild soap and lukewarm water rinse followed by careful drying is acceptable. For porous stones such as turquoise, lapis, and coral, use a dry or slightly damp cloth only—do not immerse.
Can I wear it in water?
No. Do not wear fine jewelry while swimming, bathing, exercising, or sleeping. Water, chlorine, salt, and heat can dull finishes, stress settings, and permanently damage porous stones. Always remove jewelry before exposure to water.
What should I do if my finger swells while wearing a ring?
If swelling or injury occurs, remove the ring immediately before swelling progresses. In a medical emergency, the ring may need to be cut for safety; prompt removal can often prevent that outcome.
How should I store my jewelry?
Store each piece individually in its Allan Peoples box or protective pouch. These enclosures are designed for safe long-term storage and travel. Keep pieces away from humidity and prolonged sunlight.
Do you clear or charge the energy of each piece?
Yes. After completion, each piece undergoes a quiet finishing process designed to release manufacturing stress and restore material balance before packaging and shipment.
Do you offer professional cleaning?
Yes. Professional cleaning and polishing are available through our atelier. Service fees and insured round-trip shipping apply.
CUSTOM AND BESPOKE
Do you accept custom commissions?
Yes. Bespoke designs are considered case by case and require consultation, design approval, and a deposit before work begins.
Can I customize an existing design?
Select pieces may be customized by metal or stone. Availability varies; please inquire before ordering. Estimates for customizations or commissions may take two weeks or longer, depending on complexity.
Can I provide my own gold or gemstones?
No. To ensure purity, authenticity, and finish quality, we work only with materials sourced through our atelier.
VALUES AND PRACTICES
Why don’t you offer financing or payment plans?
We do not offer financing, payment plans, or split payments. Each piece is made to order and created only when it is truly meant to be. We believe fine jewelry should be chosen deliberately and without debt—an act of intention, not impulse. Every purchase represents a conscious commitment to craftsmanship and permanence.
Why are your prices higher than typical jewelry brands?
Each piece is made individually from solid 18k gold or platinum with gemstones of exceptional quality, designed and finished with architectural precision. Our pricing reflects the true cost of artistry—the mastery of skilled hands, uncompromising materials, and the time required to create work that endures. We do not discount, mass-produce, or outsource integrity.
Why don’t you use lab-created diamonds or gemstones?
We work only with natural stones formed in the earth over vast spans of time. Their crystalline structure, subtle optical life, and material individuality cannot be replicated in a laboratory. Each natural stone carries geological history—qualities essential to the spirit of our work.
Do your prices fluctuate?
Yes. Pricing is periodically adjusted to reflect the current value of gold and platinum in global markets. This ensures fairness and transparency as metal costs evolve.
Do you ever use recycled metals?
While not all metals are recycled, every alloy used in Allan Peoples jewelry is nickel-free, hypoallergenic, and refined to the highest purity standards. Our emphasis is on structural quality and longevity, which we regard as the truest form of sustainability.
How do you define ethical luxury?
For us, ethics and luxury are inseparable. To create fewer things of greater meaning is the most responsible path forward. We honor the materials of the earth, the labor of human hands, and the permanence of beauty made to last. Our goal is not novelty, but endurance—to craft objects that remain whole, relevant, and alive through time.
What does the name Tatenen mean?
Tatenen is the ancient Egyptian embodiment of the living earth—the first emergence of form from the Primordial Waters. Revered as the source of precious metals and gemstones within the earth, Tatenen represents the moment when matter awakens into structure and beauty. The name signifies balance, renewal, and creative ascent. It reflects the philosophy behind every Allan Peoples creation: that form and spirit are one, and that true beauty arises from stillness into structure. Our parent company, Tatenen Design LLC, honors that principle—the ground from which all our work takes shape.
Do you ever run promotions or sales?
No. Allan Peoples does not participate in seasonal sales, discounts, or promotional events. Each piece is made to order, valued for its craftsmanship and materials, not for its margin of reduction. We believe in timeless worth—not temporary incentive.
COLLECTORS AND DOCUMENTATION
Will my piece come with documentation?
Yes. Each piece includes a detailed materials record and invoice suitable for independent appraisal and insurance. Documentation lists metal type, gemstone specifications, and production notes.
Do you provide authentication or production records?
Yes. Each piece carries a unique internal production number linked to our permanent archive for authenticity, provenance, and future reference.
Can I have my jewelry appraised?
Yes. You are welcome to obtain an independent appraisal. We can provide supporting details upon request.
Will my jewelry increase in value?
Allan Peoples creations are made in solid gold or platinum with gemstones of exceptional quality and limited production. While we make no formal claims about future valuation, each piece carries intrinsic and artistic value intended to endure.
Do you offer lifetime care or restoration?
Yes. Restoration and refinishing services are available for all pieces regardless of age. Each restoration is performed with the same level of precision as the original creation.

We do not maintain a public showroom. Select clients and collectors may be received privately by invitation at our New York residence salon.
